  • Pre-Orders for Self-Published Audiobook Titles on ACX

    Hello Everyone,

I seeking some general advice regarding preparing an audiobook for pre-order on ACX.

I recently received the finished (mastered) files from my engineering and I’m in the process of uploading the audiobook to ACX. I looked at the FAQ page and there is a line in there that I found a tad confusing: “Make sure to submit your audiobook on time. Pre-orders must be requested at least 14 days in advance of submission to our Quality Assurance team.” Does this mean that I need to request the pre-order, then wait for 14 days to finish uploading the audiobook? I’ve heard there is a delay with ACX as far as reviewing is concerned (an additional 30 to 45 days), so I’m not sure how that will impact a pre-order request. I don’t even know what date to ask for, because I’m not sure if it will be far enough out, due to the delays. I was hoping for a mid June release, but I’m assuming with the delays it’s going to be more like late July or early August. I’ve emailed them to see what would be feasible.

Initially, I waited to start everything ACX because I didn’t know when exactly I would have the files ready, plus I had to deliver the mp3 version to my Kickstarter backers. I’m planning on going the exclusive distribution route, hence the reason for not doing this sooner.

For anyone that has published audiobooks directly with ACX and gotten the audiobook on pre-order, what advice could you give me?

    Thanks,
    Robert Zangari
