I want to talk about LitRPG!
I’ve been thinking about this since James Hunter’s amazing success on Audible the other day. If you had told me about LitRPG two or three years ago, I would’ve told you I have no idea what that is and that it doesn’t sound like something I would want to read. Actually, that’s exactly how it happened. But despite my initial wariness, fast forward to today and I’ve read a fairly wide breadth of litrpg novels (yes including Viridian Gate Online) and I’m about 3/4ths of my way through writing one of my own.
So here’s some questions:
Where did it come from? How did you first hear about it?
What is the state of LitRPG now? It seems like they are selling like gangbusters, but I can’t help but think it’s still pretty niche.
Is it even worth trying to traditionally publish? If not, what would it take for Publishers to sit up and take notice?
