Composing, Violin/Viola
Hi! If you have any questions about what it’s like to write music and what can go into the process, feel free to ask. I can’t speak for all composers because like writers, we have different ways of approaching it. In fact, I find a lot of crossover between the process of writing stories and writing music. Some composers are way into the theory and form of it from the start (like outliners). Some compose more from the heart/instinct and then go back and see what kind of form they’re working in (like “pantsers”). It’s not always just a stroke of inspiration, though those definitely come and you need to be ready and have the skills to execute them (and probably have a notebook handy).
I know something about music theory, history, and musical forms in western music. (I may have to go back to my class notes on some questions to refresh my memory…)
So anything I can help with, I’d be happy to!
Also, I play violin and viola, and I can tell you right now, don’t go by what it looks like in the movies! (In most cases.) 😆
