Hi Michael, did you write the blurb or was that your publishing company? Asking because if you control it, and you’re aiming for an audience beyond players of the Master of Wills game who already know the context (none of the below matters if you aren’t):
– I can’t really tell the genre from the blurb. The first paragraph sounds Cyberpunk, the second sounds Urban Fantasy. The cover is ambiguous between the two. The reviews make it seem Cyberpunk, but a reader has to get that far…
– Paragraph 1: I can’t connect the hook to the eventual action. How do the betrayals/deaths relate to a power taking her over and raising the dead and making her suddenly important… other than chance? Also, betrayal is a pretty common hook, and not overly effective… the resurrection might be a stronger one.
– Paragraph 2: “unjust death” is pretty unspecific. Game term? I have no idea what’s happening. Also, she sounds like a victim (she didn’t do anything… the power that took control did the thing and is the target), and I can’t figure out why she’s important (some reason why only she can be a vessel of this power?). Also, isn’t she the least bit concerned she’s being used as a pawn by this power?
– Paragraph 3 is good, although it’s a bit of a leap from Resurrection to Instrument of Annihilation.
The title is awesome though.
