Writing for Games
I’ve made a bit of money scripting video games and designing games.
Games can be very successful. A big game license normally pays 5-10% of the gross sales price to the license holder (which could be an author), so if you have a game go big, it is worth a fortune.
Gaming is one leg of what I call the “pedestal”. Just as a stool needs three legs before you can sit on it, an intellectual property has three legs–books, film, and gaming–which can all make a lot of money.
I’ve worked as a game designer (where I come up with ideas for games), a marketer (where I created proposals for companies like Hasbro, E.A., and Blizzard), and as a scripter (where I wrote scripts for games).
So if you want to know more about the gaming market, I might be able to help you, but we have several other writers in Apex who have worked in the gaming industry, too.
