Deleted UserJanuary 27, 2020 at 6:13 pmWell, over the weekend, I’ve worked out the basic structure of the magic system in my world. So, that means that, this week, I should be able to finish up one the altering of one of my books. I have some oracle books and some monster manuals and I’m combining them. I need to re-write some of the intro sections for the combined book. That shouldn’t be that hard.
Once that is done, I then have to start laying out the details of the races in my second oracle book. I have about a dozen (out of 30) done. So, the rest of the week will be spent finishing up that writing.

Finish and submit an entry to the Jim Baen Memorial Contest
Finish my “60 settings” assignment from Part 1 of Advanced Story Puzzle
I have dreams of doing more than that, but with a six week old baby who won’t be put down and a toddler who won’t be contained, I’m trying to keep my goals achievable.

Tring not to overthink and overwhealm myself. If I can get through this weeek with out any health issues I’ll call it good.

Deleted UserJanuary 27, 2020 at 11:59 pmI’m trying to get in 12 hours of writing between Sunday and Tuesday this week. It’s going decently, but I don’t have a great deal of output for my efforts so far.
I’ll keep trying all the same.

I’m trying to do a first edit on a few thousands words I dictated last week. Some of it may be the beginnings of a short story and another chunk is some ideas around the history of a magic system that may develop the foundation of a novel idea I’ve been noodling on.
In between my work, family, and other responsibilities.

I feel you, Kate. My newborn is 3 weeks old (although he accepts lying down for short periods and otherwise needs his mother rather than me) and I also got a toddler. 😊
So, I’m keeping my goals humble. Finish critiquing my groups ASP assignments and continue working on my mini settings for my story puzzle. -
Working on getting at least 1000 words down a day, ideally more!

goal to write 500 words per weekday minimum. That doesn’t include editing. So that’s about half a scene. Which for me means, once I’ve started, the 500 is a piece of cake, it’s getting that far that’s hard.
sketch out a short story that’s been bubbling in my brain
proof part one of my workbook for my worldbuilding wizardry class

Finish outlining book three. Finish listening to and taking notes on the advanced story puzzle workshops. Apply those notes to my book three outline. Compile a chapter by chapter list of beta readers’ notes for book two. Begin my revisions of book two. Give a gentle nudge to the editor who has the manuscript of book one on her desk.

Update: I submitted my entry with ten hours to spare on the deadline. Huzzah! And I came up with 65 settings, which I love, so tonight I will watch the next part of the Advanced Story Puzzle and start work on that over the weekend. It’s already making my work in progress so much richer, I’m loving it.
