Question… Does the author name matter as much in self publishing
as it does in traditional publishing?
If there is no ‘shelf’, does placement mean anything.
Example, my last name starts with Z … and I self pub on amazon.
Should I still look for a pseudonym?

That’s a good question. hmmm. I’ll be interested to find out. I am considering using a different name for my romance.

Amazon is first and foremost a search engine. The correct combination of title, subtitle, description and keywords is what will allow it to show up… I’ve never seen books lower in the results because of alphabetizing :). Check out https://kindlepreneur.com/… He does some great youtube videos on keywords and such.

From what I’m reading, publishing under a pseudonym helps when genre jumping. Also, if your indie books every get an offer from a big publisher offering you huge bucks and you might actually take it, it’s too late to change your name at that point.
