    Hello Everyone,

I’m launching a Kickstarter campaign on September 14th, 2020 for my first prequel novel to my epic fantasy series. This will be my third Kickstarter. The previous two were for my first in series novel, and both raised $5,600 and $5,200 respectively. The second was for the audiobook production of the same book, and it would have done better if it were not for the pandemic.

The funding goal is set for $3,500 but we (my co-author and I) have stretch goals up to $25,000. I’m expecting that we raise about the same amount as the previous campaigns, maybe a little more. The purpose of this Kickstarter is to help raise funds to offset our production costs. Between cover art, editing, audio production, and other misc costs we’re looking at around $19,000 to professionally produce this novel. A fully funded campaign will probably net us around $2,500, which is about half the cost of producing the book in print and eBook. We’re not too concerned about the costs to produce the audiobook, as we’re rolling over the earnings from our first in series.

So, what am I asking of my fellow apex authors? Shares to your audience and to social media platforms. If you’d like to back the project, great, but I’m mainly looking to get the word out and build the backer base. I’d be more than happy to do some sort of a swap now or in the future for a new release, promotion, a general spreading word of your book, or your future Kickstarter campaign. And if you have run Kickstarters, could you share it to your backers?

If you want to read a beta copy of this book before you share it to your audience I can send you an .epub or .mobi file. Please send me a message or post a reply below and I will get it to you. You can also email me: robert.zangari@comcast.net and I’ll send a copy over.

We’re also providing the first 10% for backers to read, so they get a taste of the book. That will be on the campaign page when it launches, or they can pop over to Wattpad and read those chapters there.

In return for pledging to the campaign, backers can choose to receive the book in eBook, hardcover, paperback, and a select amount of audiobooks. The novel will be narrated by Michael Kramer. Every backer will have their name in the acknowledgements portion of the book in eBook, print, and audio. Everyone will also receive a copy of the novella-length companion story in eBook format (a $2.99 value). Those that pledge $5 or higher will receive a digital post of the book’s cover art. All physical book tiers also come with the eBook. We are offering a limited quantity of canvas wraps of the book’s cover art. We also have a bunch of add-ons but we’re going to be handling those directly through Kickstarter. (I struggled with Backerkit on my first campaign and ended up collecting funds and fulfilling add-ons on my own.)

Right now I have a preview page up and I’d like to get some more followers. I just need people to “Click the “Notify me on Launch” button”. The page is currently sitting at 40 followers but I’d like to get that over 100 before we launch. The link for that button is here:

This link will also be good for the regular campaign.

Once the campaign launches I’m also looking for some shares of the campaign video. I’m going to post the video on my Facebook page, and that’s the link I’d like shared. Once it’s ready I’ll leave the appropriate link in the comments below. I’m still creating the video, so it’s not ready yet, but once it’s up I will let everyone know via this thread.

    Thank you,

    Robert Zangari
