    Hello Everyone,

Looks like this is the first post for Kickstarters here on the forum. Woohoo!

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know I am launching a Kickstarter to help offset the cost of producing the audiobook of mine and my dad’s fantasy novel, A Prince’s Errand. I am launching the project on February 20th, 2020 at 12:00 (noon) MST. That’s tomorrow as of this post. The campaign will run from Feb 20th to March 20th. Our funding goal is $5,000, but we have stretch goals going all the way to $30,000. If we fund beyond $20,000 we’re going to have our narrator, Michael Kramer (yes!), produce up to seven additional audiobooks, including: a companion novella to A Prince’s Errand and six of the short stories that will be featured in our upcoming collection. Michael has already started narration on the novel and should be finished sometime in April.

This is our second Kickstarter. The first Kickstarter was successfully funded last year (2019) and helped offset the cost of producing A Prince’s Errand. Funds raised went toward editing, cover, interior illustration costs and got the book in the hands of readers several months before the commercial release.

Some of the rewards for this Kickstarter include: backer’s names in the acknowledgements section of the audiobook (both the accompanying PDF and on an additional audio track read by Michael), the audiobook in mp3 format and on Audible, signed and numbered hardcovers, and some limited quantity canvas wraps of the cover art for A Prince’s Errand. If we reach certain stretch goals then every backer, regardless of their pledge level, will receive up to six short stories in eBook format and the aforementioned audiobooks.

We’re going to offer some early-bird reward tiers (20% off) at launch, which will last for the first 48 hours or until they’re gone.

Here is the link to the Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lokpublishing/1041308771?ref=otv4wn&token=3a3f0015 That link is to the preview page, but it will auto-redirect to the official URL once it launches tomorrow. I will post an updated link with tracker info on this thread after it launches if you want to use that one. The tracker link helps me know where backers are coming from.

Any shares on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or your newsletter would be much appreciated. And of course, if you want to back the project that would be appreciated as well.

    Thanks,
    Robert Zangari

    *UPDATE 3/21/2020
Kickstarter has allowed for a 7 day extension to campaigns due to COVID-19, so my campaign is still running and will end on March 28th at 12:00 PM MDT.

The campaign is 70% funded at the moment, and we need another 30 to 50 backers to hit the funding goal. We’ve had to have several backers cancel due to the financial ramifications of the pandemic, otherwise it would be closer to funding.

In order to provide some extra value I took the short stories we were offering as stretch goals and are now offering them to every backer (even if they pledge just a dollar). They’ll retail for $0.99 each as ebooks. It’s not much but I’m hoping an extra $5 value will help sway those on the fence. I’ve also revised the stretch goals to enable the production of the other audiobooks starting at $7,000 instead of $20,000. What this means is that we’re only going to recoup about 1/5th of the production cost for A Prince’s Errand, but we’re fine with that.

If you could, please share with anyone that would be in a position to contribute that has an interest in epic fantasy. Here is the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lokpublishing/audiobook-of-a-princes-errand?ref=apripv

    Thanks,
    Robert
