I have some questions concerning the two sites RoyalRoad.com and Wattpad.com

If you don’t know they are both platforms where you can post chapters of your books to a large audience who will review and critique it. Of course, the audience varies greatly.

I don’t know much about the site, but heard David Farland mention them both, so I looked them up.

Has anyone here used these sites?

Is it dangerous to post your whole book?

I was thinking of using these two platforms to get a following started and people on my own site and subscribed to me personally.

What thoughts or advice can you give me concerning this process and if you want, thoughts on self-publishing?

I realize this is an old post, but I have experience with Royal Road and happy to answer questions if you’re still interested.

As far as “is it safe”?

    Yes.

I am also writing on Royal Road. Posting there does not preclude you from publishing on Amazon later, as long as you remove the chapters from Royal Road before publishing. It can be a great way to build up a following. Some of the more popular authors have seen their works taken and published on Amazon by others. They insert a sentence here or there stating that this work was stolen from Royal Road. I found it to be a great active community of readers and writers.
