Writing Scenes for Fun
I’ve started a process on recent short stories where I write scenes knowing they probably won’t end up in the finished draft. I use this as a method to help with character development and to add color for myself in the world building process. I like to do these ‘drafts’ during sprint sessions because it allows the scene to flow and secrets from this world are revealed to me by the characters.
To me it is an extension of Dave’s Story Puzzle. I’m curious if anyone else does anything similar to this.

I do the same sort of thing, having my characters go on their own “side quests” to get a feel how they act.
Also its fun to just write for the joy of writing.
